Narcosonic is a sonic project founded by Ivan Zoloto and Robert Sopenlehto with an open and ever-expanding anonymous membership, conceived as a vehicle for dialogue through sonic experimentation, open improvisation, and play.
Using a methodology where spoken communication is replaced by sonic practice, Ivan and Robert seek to develop a project-specific language that will be implicitly shared with others through artistic exchange. Each person will invite further artist/s to work together in a series of sessions, opening out the language to new people, and expanding the vocabulary of sonic gestures, textures, and strategies. As a consequence of this process, the role of intention and incidentals will be equalised, creating open spaces beyond judgment and individuated taste for the development of a collective sensibility. These sessions will be recorded, edited with restraint, and released, providing access for audiences to hear the artists question, prompt, and respond through an emerging creative dialogue.
The first release of Narcosonic is planned for the first half of 2022, with further releases to follow in late 2022.
